Remember Who You Really Are {Coffee for Your Heart}

Sara Torbett - Sunflower

Dear You,

When life crowds in on us and pushes us hard, we can forget who we are. We start to look around us and think, “Is this me? Is this who I am now?” Our perspective gets blurred, and the enemy tries to persuade us that we are not the woman God has told us we are—the woman he’s promised we always will be.

Life has ups and downs for all of us. So whether you’re at the end of a hard day, in the middle of celebrating, or somewhere in between, there’s some truth you need to hear. And it’s this: you are not your circumstances.

In all the moments of your life, you are a woman of grace and strength. Even when you feel weak, you have divine power within you that is able to get you through anything. And you are loved far more than you can even imagine. How you feel today, what you’re facing, even what others may say doesn’t change that—and never can.

Who you are is secure forever. And you are a daughter of God, a holy princess, a woman who is chosen and cherished. Nothing and no one can take that away from you. You have within you a God who is bigger than your bad days and stronger than your circumstances, and he will never let you go. He has promised that nothing will defeat you and no one can stand against you.

So keep pressing forward, friend. Hold your head up high and know that you are loved.

Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.

Whatever has happened or is yet to be can’t change that even a little bit.

And it can’t change who you really are—a beloved child of God who belongs to and with him forever.

We are all princesses. And I love a tiara! I think we should all wear tiaras and call one another Princess just to help us remember. Thanks for your encouragement, Princess Holley!

  3. Debbie says

“Whatever has happened or is yet to be can’t change that even a little bit.” seemed to pop out of the post in big old bolded, italic, glittering pulsing letters. Thank you – needed this!

  4. Carla says

Tears poring out of my eyes, Thank you Holley for the encouragement today.
I really needed to hear this. It has been a very hard week already.
I know God will bring me thru this, but sometimes it is hard to keep focus
when you are in the middle of a storm. Thanks for bringing me back to

  7. Mary says

Thank you, Holley, for this special message. I am experiencing a lot of pain in my knees today, more than ever before. I have an upcoming appointment for treatment of some kind…possibly knee surgery. Today being such a difficult day, I had to even cancel a church meeting which I hated to do. But, I am trying to trust God to bring me through this as He has always been my help. Your messages always seem to meet my needs…that’s a gift from God for me and I ask Him to bless you for following His will in your life. Thanks again.

  8. says

Thank you, Holley, for blessing my soul today with such heart-warming encouragement. I know in my head this is TRUTH, every word of it, and I try to remind myself daily. By moments it dribbles into my heart, but I long to embrace it with heart wide open 24/7.

  9. Sherri says

Thank you Holley! I have been struggling with past “circumstances” creeping around in my mind trying to define who I am; your devo today was a soul lifting encouragement! God bless you dearly!

  10. says

Hi Holley, thanks for another encouraging post. It’s so important for us to remember who we are in Christ. This line stuck out in particular, “And you are a daughter of God, a holy princess, a woman who is chosen and cherished.” Blessings! -Nancy

  11. Liz says

I so needed to hear your words of encouragement!!! So often I listen to the liar of my soul and it wipes me out, the lies steal the joy of the Lord out of my life. Thank you for the reminder once again that my identity is in Christ and Christ alone:-)
May God bless you and your ministry!!!

  12. Liz says

I so needed your words of encouragement this morning!!! Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us women. The lies that the enemy throws my way depletes my soul and the joy that the Lord would want for my life. Thank you for the reminder that my identity is in Christ and Christ alone!!!
May God richly bless you and your ministry:-)

  13. Cindy says

Thank you, Holley! This is very timely. Yesterday was very rough with my teenage daughter and then with my husband. It was one of those times where I said, “Take me Home, Father God!” Yup! “Darned if you do and darned if you don’t.” I needed to be told that I am not defined by my circumstances. Sometimes it surely seems like it. I must not buy into that lie. God defines me – I am more than a conqueror. Jesus is made wisdom to me from God. It’s all about Him – not me. I choose to cling tightly to my Savior and His promises to and truths about me. Praise Him! Thank you, again. God continue to bless you richly!

  14. Gail says

Thank you Holley for your beautiful words of encouragement! For the past year or so my physical condition has deteriorated to the point that I feel fairly useless. in one way, it’s a bit scary to think what may lie ahead. Then I tell myself I am a child of God and that His plan for me is perfect. He is renewing my spiritual strength as I grow closer to Him every day. My circumstances here on earth have definitely changed, causing my relationship with my Lord to grow even deeper. I depend on Him, and on women like you, Holley, to help me live for Jesus!

  15. Annette says

Dear Holley. AMEN!!!! Tears will come, again and again. Because of my pain, because of my deep longing for inner peace. But your post is so beautiful, and so TRUE!! I will print it out and paste it on the outside cover of my diary. Thank you so much. You are truly touched by the Holy Spirit and I am so grateful for that…… Blessings! Annette

  16. Tanya says

I’m really glad I randomly stumbled across your blog. You are such a sweet, kind, compassionate person. I felt kinda…loved and hope-filled…just reading the article I stumbled across (on changing the world). I was starting to feel depressed and discouraged over the past few days, and I just got an injection of positivity. Thanks for being here and being so lovely:-)

  17. Jenese Garland says

Because of our hectic lives I’m just now going through emails and deleting everything. But this one I knew I needed to read. The “complaint” and “lament” is one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you for sharing this and breaking it down. It is right on and today I needed to be reminded. My husband and I are missionaries to the USA and so as it goes, not much supported. Tomorrow is important bills that cause trouble if not paid and today we thought we had some “tentmaking” work, when we got to the job site we were told we couldn’t start today. No gas in the car, no groceries. Not a great comfortable situation, I don’t like it too much. But I know Who is in charge of our lives and we will just keep standing to see His salvation, with the right attitude thanks to the devo I read today. It is right on time for us! THANK YOU!

  18. sharyn says

Wow awesome posts! I face ongoing challenge with ms sometimes lose sight of the truth that no matter what Jesus never shares each moment. Its hard having no earthly family on the natural but God sure is my portion for every moment good or not.
