When You Feel a Little Weary…

Hey You,

You’ve been working hard, haven’t you?

Trying your best.

Doing what you can.

And sometimes you wonder…does it even matter?

Let me lean and whisper close, “Yes, it matters. And you do too.”

More than you know, more than you see.

Your bravery makes a difference.

Even when it’s the quiet kind.

The kind that simply says, “I will get up today and try again.”

That’s powerful, friend.

It sends ripples across your world in ways beyond what you know.

Yes, sometimes we get tired.

Every single one of us.

But we will not be defeated.

We will not back down.

We will not quit.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. {Gal. 6:9}

There are good things coming, friend. Beneath the surface.

Growing with each step you take.

And pretty soon they’re going to come bursting through and bloom into joy.

So let’s take a deep breath, wrap our arms around each other’s shoulders and say again…

“We can do this–we can do anything–together with Jesus.”

Hi Holley, it’s been a very long day for me. Hubby Mike and I had made visits to Christian friends and all day was spent encouraging friends and praying with them too. Afternoon teas were a bonus. It was nice having a cup of tea and some biscuits with friends and encouraging each other in the name of Jesus. Got to go now… have a wonderful day and God bless you.

  7. This what I have been telling myself all morning and it feels good to know that God has my back through people like you, telling me I am more than able today!!!

  8. Encouragement was needed today – Amazing how God knows what I need before anyone else! Thank you for your insights! Blessings, Shirley

  9. AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! I needed this encouragement today. God has given me this scripture in Psalms 138: 8 several times “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever- do not abandon the works of your hands.” This brings me much encouragement every day. God will not fail to fulfill his purpose for me, he will not abandon (me) the works of his hands. I may get weary and tired, but he never does, and he is always moving and working in my Life, weather I feel it or do not, He is behind the scene working His will. Trusting in His words, Trusting in His Love, I know He will not Fail! What a wonderful God we have that He wants to do it all for us, he just wants us to let Him do it…. God Bless!

    I think I can…I think I can….I KNOW I CAN! Through Messiah,
Yahshua, Who gives me Strength, His.
I encourage us all to keep the praise and worship tapes on
and through out the day, keep praising the Redeemer, Who
bought us back to Himself and praise will bring forth the Victory
in our battles, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, even
though it seems that way. The Battle is Yahweh’s! He is Captain
of the Host ~ Yahweh Nissi.
Shalom to you, Holley, and thank you for this wonderful post, today.
I am excited about the Spirit moving among us and in us, today.
He truly is awesome in this place.

  11. Holley,

Thank-you SO much for allowing God to use you, for allowing yourself to be a vessel to be filled and emptied. You have blessed me with your words, your soft spirit and your Jesus-like love.

This year of 2013, I have been forwarding your email posts to my staff and encouraging them as well. May God continue to bless your ministry Holley and thank you for doing what you do!

  14. Thank you for always being so encouraging and positive. The journey has been a little rough but so worth it simply because of being able to share it with both online friends and real life friends,

  15. Holley ~ beautiful ~

  18. On my way to physical therapy after knee surgery; it hurts so much and I’m in so much pain and was ready to quit til I read your words…not to give up, not to despair, not to be defeated…good thing are coming with every step. Right now every step is painful but I’m going with a smile on my face and your words and Jesus in my heart. Thank you.

  19. I’m leaning hard on each line. Trying again, again, again.

  22. Amen!! We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength!

  23. Thanks for the pep talk, Holley. Knowing I will be moving in about two months and starting to pack and go through things after living here 23 years has been overwhelming especially with chronic health issues so I really needed this today. I must do a little at a time and then rest and leave the rest for another day. Little by lttle, I tell myself and thank God for all His help and strength. Philippians 4 is especially meaningful to me and has been one of my favorite chapters.
    Have a blessed day!

  24. I have been needing a pep talk like this for 2 weeks now! Thank you so much. Your blog has been a blessing in my life.

  25. I’m sharing this, because I need reminding; because you need reminding, because God never built us to be alone or isolated AND we are built to encourage one another.
    Thank you. Hugs and blessings….

  26. Thank you. This was certainly God’s plan for today. It is exactly what I needed to hear. My circumstances have changed so much I have been trying hard to maintain my balance…reading the Bible each day and a number of devotionals. Some very large decisions will have to be made in the next 3 to 4 months. My son’s job closed down, he and I have a hard time making the money meet the end of the month. Our lease is until July 1 and there is a possibility of a friend getting him a job in Denver but we’re in Boise. Praying for God to help us make the right decisions.

  27. Thanks, needed this today!

  28. Deborah J. Coombs says:

Holly, you are always right on target. Thank u for being a consistently faithful servant. I pray that you receive Jesus’ amazing love & strength every day of your life. God bless you.

  29. Jeanne Bowser says:

Thank you! Got lots to do-planning a prayer/worship camp for our church kids this summer, and writing. I don’t want to get weary and I won’t by the grace of God!:) Thanks again Holley!:) You’re a blessing!

  30. Just what I needed….spoke directly to my heart ! Thank-you !

  31. Thank you for your beautiful and wonderful words from The Lord, Holley. I needed the reminder to preserver through the valley and to know that the harvest will be plentiful. My prayer is that I will stay in the will of our God.

  32. Though your discussions about God-sized dreams was interesting, it is when you write these “poems” that you really touch my heart, and those of others with whom I share your words. Can’t tell you how many times, they have replied that your encouraging words came just at the right time. Thank you for your outreach to so many unknowns.

  33. Your post is always so encouraging, beautiful, and blessed, God has ordained you for such a time as this. We so appreciate you!

  34. Girl I really needed this encouragement today!! I will save it and read it again as a reminder. I am definitely feeling tired and battered. Taking small steps forward, but the devil is fighting me. I keep praying and asking God for help. Your blog, and the God-sized dream group are such a help! Thanks, Holley! God is blessing us today!

  35. Thank you so much! What a wonderful message for today!

  36. I had a rough morning with ungracefulness as I was running errands. I kept falling into things and losing my shoes. I was so embarrasedn (small town, someone is bound to notice me). Then on the drive home I was thinking about how if I was with my sisters or a friend then I would have viewed things different–probably laughed more than being embarrased. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 came to mind:

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Just reading this post of encouragement made my “ugh I hate errands” morning a lot better. We are not in this alone…and I was not even alone today, but so often I forget that I can run errands with Jesus too. :) Next time I will remember that as I retrace my steps to get my shoes.

I’ve been looking for alternatives and doing the hardest thing of all: praying for blessings for the bully. Holding on the best I can, and appreciating your message today——-

  44. God is amazing, because that is exactly what this worn out wife/mom/student/writer needed to hear today. <3 Thank you!

  45. Thank you, Holley. I need to read this again and again, because I have been in the midst of a huge pause, not motivated for anything.

  46. Thank you, Holley :) Are you over your cold? I know it took me weeks to fully recover, and I hope it doesn’t take you several weeks….

  47. Yeah.

  48. It’s 10PM and finally, just finally I am getting here and reading these words… and can I say friend that I am overwhelmed with gratitude… because it has been a day, a week really – and life? Life has pressed just a little too close its rough edges scraping just a bit and I am so grateful for these words from you… “There are good things coming, friend. Beneath the surface.” They are like a balm as I realize that the scraping that life does… sometimes it gets to what’s just there beneath the surface as we lean in and linger a little longer at the feet of Him.

  49. Thank you, Holley, I really needed to read this today.

  50. I am so much in this situation having no strength to go on…truly I have heard from god through you..

    Thanks for the encouragement

    Priya

  53. You are such a blessing. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

  54. thanks for this. appreciate you reminding me God has my back. tough week with grandkids sick and taxi service for schools. just stressed and tired. will rest in these words.

  55. It’s always good to read encouraging words.

  56. I almost deleted this email becuase I didn’t want to see another perky prediction but your words have been such a refreshing blessing to my weary soul…

    Thank you!

  57. Talk about arms about the shoulders! Your words wrapped around my heart in a strength-infusing hug: 1) “It matters; you do, too.” 2) “Good things are coming.” 3) “We can do this–together with Jesus.” Sometimes circumstances drown out the truths that should be our focus. Thank you, Holley, for bringing them to the forefront again, with confidence and positivity.

  58. Thanks Holley,
The gray day matched my weary heart…thanks for bringing warmth, a hug and some sunshine in the form of encouragement into my day!! I always get excited when your posts appear in my inbox! Blessings and a hug back to you…
    Bev

  59. Holley, I read your post on my phone in the middle of my jam-packed day. Towards the end of the week, I do truly get weary of the demands and stress. Your post was so timely & a reminder that God is always calling us to Him. Thank you, Holley for your encouragement & willingness to be used by Him. God bless you!

  60. Thanks for those thoughts. So refreshing~

  61. Holley,
I know what it means to be weary. But I know one thing for sure and that is God is always there to help through the most dificult times of your life. Pray often and realize God cares for you. He will keep you from falling down. He has given us so many things and everyday I thank him for that.

  62. Thank you for this encouragement. I needed it so much.

  63. These always come at the right time. N,y life feels so out of control. Lost my job, got a new one, on second day hit by a car, lost that job, car and spend a lot of time in pain. Have panic attacks, feel totally neglected by the man I am seeing. Being positive is so hard.

  64. Thank you! Although this has been in my inbox for many days, I read this at God’s perfect timing – 5 minutes ago. When You Feel A Little Weary. Be Blessed.

  65. Dearest Holley
You are my true friend on e mail. What a true inspiration you are to all of us out here. I was so weary and you lifted me up. I read your blog about not. Being weary and it changed my life. You and others are weary too. It set me free because Im not alone. Be encouraged you are not alone. Loves in The Lord Jesus Christ! Kim

  66. yet again your words bring encouragement, thank you. I always know when God is speaking to me through others words – He always makes me cry! Bless you for using your gifts

  67. It seems like our family has been hit so hard & so many times in the last 6 months over & over with life’s problems that literally knock you down, mostly drug addiction related, but also my husband’s work injury, losing his job, disability denied, losing my job, son released from prison, son then overdosed on heroin (by God’s grace, He resurrected him when the EMT’s thought he was dead), son got engaged then just 2 days ago had to cancel the wedding bc his fiancé kept relapsing with drugs, court battle over our 4 year old granddaughter bc of an abusive & neglectful mother (my son’s ex), she was still given full custody……..I can hardly catch my breath & try to bounce back. I feel like I just can’t keep going & can’t make myself try to find another job. Your post just happened to pop up on my phone, when I needed to hear it the most. I cried when I read it…….it felt like God was speaking through you to my heart. Thank you so much. May the Lord continue to bless you & your ministry
