Do any of you like the Academy Awards? If so, you might be interested in knowing there’s an equivalent for the Greeting Card Industry called The Louie Awards. There’s a big fancy-schmancy ceremony in New York City (ooh-la-la).
So, long story short, Dayspring won four Louie Awards this year! The winners were announced on Monday night and we’re all quite giddy. I had the honor of writing the cards. I consider all of you part of DaySpring because we couldn’t do it without you, so I wanted to share the good news with you!
Here are the winning cards…
The first one was for Friendship/Encouragement and was designed by Leila Burkert. She’s fabulous and looks like she belongs in a fashion magazine. I’m grateful she dresses up my words so nicely too.
In hard times she had learned three things—
she was stronger than she ever imagined,
Jesus was closer than she ever realized,
and she was loved more than she ever knew.
Inside:
praying for you
Scripture:
I remember you in my prayers.
PHILEMON 1:4 NIV
Leila also designed this birthday card…
She’s one of those people
with a bright smile on her face,
a light spring in her step,
and a true sweetness in her spirit.
Inside:
You’re one of those people
who makes the world a better place
simply by being in it.
Scripture:
God saw all that He had made,
and it was very good.
GENESIS 1:31 NIV
My sweet and talented from Alisa Hipp did the next one. She’s expecting a baby and if her little one is half as creative as she is then the world had just better get ready for a big blessing.
The last thing you need
is one more person
telling you to
“get well soon.”
Sometimes it’s just
not that easy.
Inside:
So instead I want to tell you
I’m sorry you’re hurting
and I’m praying for you, too,
and asking God to take care of you
every step, every day, every way.
Scripture:
I made you and I will care for you.
ISAIAH 46:4 TLB
My dear friend, Heather Steck, designed the last (but not at all least) one. There’s a Heather-shaped spot in my heart that will be there forever. I feel so blessed by her friendship and all the fun work we’ve gotten to do together.
The Meaning of the Snowflake
Every new snowflake comes to the earth
as a picture of our Saviour’s birth,
because they are sent from up above
and remind us of God’s care and love.
Each one is so intricate and small
because Christ sees the details of us all,
and just as two are never the same
the Lord knows and calls us each by name.
Snowflakes gently cover the world in white
and hide what’s unlovely from our sight,
showing us how He covers our sin
and gives us His grace when we come to Him.
So may every snowflake bring Christ to mind
and in every bit of white may you find
a reason to celebrate anew
and a reminder of His love for you.
Inside:
Praying your Christmas and new year
are filled with God’s many blessings.
SCRIPTURE:
From the fullness of His grace we have
all received one blessing after another.
JOHN 1:16 NIV
