A fiercehearted woman makes gentle the new strong, small the new big.

{my graphics are free goodies for you}

I am a play-it-safe girl. I’d like to think this isn’t true—that I might sky dive or wrestle alligators, trek through the jungle or dance until 3am. But the reality is I’m happy with a pair of pajama pants and a cup of tea, a book in my hand or a conversation with a friend over coffee.

There is one exception to this: My heart has historically been as bold and wide open as a barefooted girl running with wildflowers in her tangled hair. Or a warrior, sword strapped to her side, the sweat and grit between her shoulders. I’d readily reach out a hand or fight for someone I loved, regardless of the cost or consequence.

But a few years ago I got tired. And I got hurt. I thought it might be time to let my heart go the way of the pajama pants. Set it on the couch, lock the doors, let it be. I knew I had a choice to make—fainthearted or fiercehearted.

Yet I also understood, somewhere deep in my bones, we are meant “not to grow weary and lose heart” (Heb. 12:3). But it was tempting, so tempting. Surely it would be simpler, easier, less painful to just smile and nod and be fine on the surface.

I found myself at a crossroads. I got on a plane and sniffled into a napkin and unexpectedly wrote these words in the dark with the taste of salty peanuts on my tongue…

Fiercehearted Woman by Holley Gerth

This moment became the start of a little revolution in my world. A God-transformation that led me to live with more joy, freedom and purpose. I didn’t go back to the way I had been before; I learned a new and better way. And I want to share it with you in the next few weeks.

We don’t have to live so tired. We don’t have to feel so alone. We are made for more than “I’m fine.”

We are fiercehearted women; this is our time.
