God-sized Dream = A desire in your heart for more of what God has for you.
We’re opening the door to God-sized dreams in 2013. So every week we get together to encourage each other {because don’t we all need it? yes, ma’am.}. This week Carey Bailey is here to share about God-sized dreams with you…
Imagine being handed a real life treasure map. You are already anticipating the chest of golden and sparkly goodness to be had once you reach the X that marks the spot. Sounds exciting, huh? This is exactly how I felt as I began the God-sized dreamer journey. I have always been up for a good adventure especially when it involves dreaming big. But the thing about treasure quests is that there is always a certain amount of suspense and surprise along the way and boy did I find that to be truth on this voyage.
I thought making my way to the X was going to be easy because I knew my God-sized dream. I wanted to be more available to my family which meant “retiring” from full time church ministry and I wanted to dedicate more time to writing Cravings Flashcards Devotionals. I felt like it was a simple and achievable dream. BAM! I would reach gold in no time. But as I began reading Holley’s treasure map I started uncovering another buried treasure…one that wasn’t on the map. There was a dream hidden in me that was covered by sand, drift wood, and seaweed. Have you ever buried a dream in you and forgotten about it?
As I began to connect the dots on this map I was reminded that over twelve years ago I had a dream to be a Life Coach. That dream was only revealed to God and the pages of my journals. I had never even whispered the dream out loud to any human being in my life.
Why?
I feared it. I feared it wouldn’t be acceptable in the church ministry world, I feared I wouldn’t be “good enough”, I feared affording the certification process, and I feared it was a silly dream. But as I choose to process what it was to dream about what God wanted for my life I became ship wrecked knowing that God had a dream waiting for me and that I needed to be brave enough to dig into. He had treasure box waiting to being found.
Within a few days of realizing what I had been keeping hidden I shared my dream with my husband, family, and close friends. I asked for their prayers. A week after that I was blessed with the funds for the certification, I signed up, and began the classes. It was within minutes of my first class that I simply knew “X marks the spot!” THIS was the treasure I was seeking…this was the one God has been waiting for me to find. It was like swimming in gold, diamonds, sapphires, and knowing they were yours for the keeping.
The treasure chest was uncovered, the secret was shared with the world, and the sparkling jewels were overwhelming joy that comes only from God.
Is there a hidden treasure in you just waiting to be discovered?
