Living a God-Sized Dream

God-sized Dream = A desire in your heart for more of what God has for you.

We’re opening the door to God-sized dreams in 2013. So every week we get together to encourage each other {because don’t we all need it? yes, ma’am.}. This week Cara Sexton is here to share about God-sized dreams with you…

*****

I’m a Technicolor dreamer.

New adventures, exciting commitments, and intriguing interests abound, for me. The world is my oyster and I suck down that salty water and let it churn me up, toss me around, re-create this girl one grain of sand at a time.

But I’m learning, grit by grain by wave, that God dreams are different. God dreams are bigger than Technicolor. Bigger than 3D, high-def, surround sound, enhanced viewing virtual reality is a life, a purpose, so magnificent we can’t even fathom it.

God dreams are always outside of our own abilities, outside of our understanding and comprehension.

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. – Ephesians 3:30 (MSG)

I can never see to the end of a God-sized dream. There are big, fat “how?” holes lining the path and unlike my Technicolor substitute, I cannot self-construct a roadmap or define the ultimate purpose. While I may envision a pit stop on the road, I will never know the whole impact, the complete story of the dream’s fulfillment, as it is a life’s work and gracefully, I am not the only the author of this story. God dreams move by Spirit, one shaky footstep at a time into landscapes we have never imagined.

The faithful journey of following a holy dream often requires actual miracles, but even more, the faith to ask for them, to expect them while you work hand-in-hand with intimate mystery.

Our own Technicolor apparitions brew up inside our minds, embrace our fears, and sell us short of glory and grace. God-sized dreams are planted in our hearts, weaved right into the very fabric of ourselves. He pulls passion together with purpose and sews our whole selves, as unique and necessary creations, into His love story. Your God-sized dreams were designed before even your heartbeat patted out a rhythm, and you, my friend, were born for this.

Take the hand of God, dance wide in His magnitude and love, and dream the impossible, indispensible dreams planted deep in your heart.

Dream a God-sized dream…and then live one.

God-Sized ButtonSo we can all find each other, please include this God-sized Dreams button in your post. Also, love on your fellow God-sized dreamin’ sisters by leaving a comment on the post before yours.

“It’s tempting to hide our dreams away. We tell ourselves we’ll pursue them later or that we need to feel safer first. But the reality is, later may not come and living out a dream is risky no matter when we decide to do it. We all have to come to a point when we’re ready to stop simply dreaming and begin doing.” — You’re Made for a God-sized Dream, Chapter Four

For next week: We’ve talked a lot about “what” your dream is and now it’s time to tackle the “why” behind it. Why is your dream worth pursuing, fighting for and seeing through no matter what happens? Share your answer in a post then link it up here next Tuesday.
