Hallmark Road Trip

DaySpring is owned by Hallmark. So most of the editorial department hopped in a company van yesterday and headed to Kansas City for a few meetings. There are seven of us, which means we can all fit in one vehicle. At one point our fearless leader, Linn, squealed the tires on the company van–which inspired a discussion about what would happen to DaySpring if we were all wiped out or went to jail.

I’m hoping to post some photos of our trip. Until then, here are a few insider facts about Hallmark headquarters…

1) They have their very own coffee shop that serves Starbuck’s.

2) The silverware in the cafeteria has little Hallmark crowns on it.

3) The building is huge and you have to use elevators sometimes. I’ve gotten stuck in one.

4) A lot of the walls are covered in art, photographs, and writing by the people who work there.

We love our Hallmark friends. They give us cookies and caffeine every time we come…two of the best-kept secrets of writing greeting cards.
