The one thinking maybe it would be easy just to get thicker skin. That perhaps it’s time to toughen up. After all, you’ve been told you’re too sensitive. And it’s a tough world out there.

Having a soft heart in a hard world is courage not weakness. It’s safe to by cynical. It’s easy to be critical. It’s not hard to hide. But to keep your heart tender, to reach out to those who hurt you, to keep on loving? That is fierce. And wild. And a lot like Jesus.
We serve a Savior who died in the ultimate position of vulnerability. Arms stretched wide enough to embrace the whole world. Heart exposed. Words of forgiveness still coming from his lips.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that kindness and gentleness and acceptance are anything less than scandalously brave. And world-changing.
Choose love this week. Even when it’s hard. Even when it hurts. Even when you get crucified.
Yes, even then.
I promise you that I will too.
