I’m heading to Seattle next week. I’ll be speaking at the Northwest Christian Writers Conference and staying a few extra days for vacation too.
Last night my hubby and I were planning what to do and, most importantly, where to EAT while we’re there.
As you probably know, the very first Starbucks is in Seattle. Being deeply devoted coffee drinkers, that quickly made our list.
It seems strange that Starbucks started with one store. And, really, it began with just one cup of coffee. Then another. And another.
By the time most of us stood in line for a mocha, years of work had been done.
I find that encouraging.
And it reminded me of how the Kingdom works–seeds planted, going to the Promised land one step at a time, asking for our daily bread.
Our Big God is a fan of the small.
One cup at a time…
It sounds crazy in our get-it-done-now-and-do-it-huge world.
But it sure seems that’s the way God pours into us–
and the way He asks us to pour into others too.
p.s. For those of you who have been to Seattle, I’d love your recommendations. What should we do when we’re there? Where should we eat?

My dear friend Bonnie is the daughter of a mail order bride whose life was transformed by her Heavenly Father. Bonnie filmed her story “Going Off Script” in a 90 second video and entered it in The Million Miles Short Film Contest. It took A LOT of courage for Bonnie to share her story…will you support her by watching her video and voting for her (today is the last day!)?
