Psst…It’s Okay for You to Question

Seek by Holley Gerth

Dear You,

I love the way you’re a seeker. Maybe you wouldn’t say it that way. You wonder why you have so many questions, why it seems to take you a while to figure things out, why you take time to decide to choose a path. “Shouldn’t I be more certain, more focused, more sure?” you may whisper to yourself sometimes.

All the while I’m watching a heart that delights God because you pursue truth until you find it. I see a woman who’s not afraid to ask the hard questions. I notice someone who can sit in the in-between until the next step is revealed.

You could do the easy thing, which would be just to recklessly charge ahead with whatever you think you want. You could skip the questions and fill in the blanks for yourself. You could pick a solution and make it happen on your own.

But you don’t. You wait, you pray, you ask. Instead of simply doing what you want, you seek what God wills. You show true humility by letting others be part of your journey. You keep your eyes and heart open to whatever it may be that God wants to share with you.

And because of that, your path is one that helps others find their way too. Do you know that? It’s true. The steps you take lead to Jesus. Oh, sure, it may seem as if there are sometimes delays or detours. But in the end you always go to him and go with him, and that is a beautiful, powerful thing.

So keep seeking, sister. See your questions not as a reason for guilt but as evidence that you really want to know the truth. See your searching as a pursuit of the One who loves for you to chase hard after his heart. See your uncertainty as something that helps you search out the only One who is unchanging forever.

Keep walking toward him.

Keep walking with him.

Keep seeking.

You’ll always find what you’re looking for in the end.

Because you’re really always looking for him.

XOXO
