I’m deliberately finding joy for forty days. To start from day one click here.
Last weekend my husband and I went for a long bike ride on a path we’d never ridden before. Heading around a corner I confidently turned in a direction I thought would lead to good things.
The picture above shows what awaited instead.
I hopped off my bike and proceeded to have the following conversation with my bewildered husband…
“Hand me the camera!”
“Why are you taking a picture of that?”
“It’s a spiritual analogy.”
“Oh, right.”
Sound of spinning wheels (in my mind and on his bike).
The end to that path made me think of the times during this challenge when I’ve been zipping along and thinking, I’m finally getting the hang of this joy thing.
Then I round a corner and all of a sudden the path that seemed so clear comes to a sudden end.
I’ve been asking myself, “What in the world just happened?”
It’s could be any number of things, of course. To be honest, it doesn’t take a whole lot to derail me—worry, insecurity, bad coffee.
So this week I’m going to take a different approach to the challenge. For a few days I want to take a closer look at the joy-stoppers in my life.
To kick things off, I’d like to have a little brainstorm. Instead of telling me something that brings you joy, please share something that gets in the way of it. (You’ll still be entered in the giveaways just like before.) If you’re a subscriber, remember to go to the site and leave a comment rather than replying to the e-mail.
So, help me out here, what tends to put an end to your happy trail?
