I’m deliberately finding joy for forty days. To start from day one click here.
Last weekend several of my dear friends took me out to dinner to celebrate the completion of my masters degree (thanks, girls!).
Heather gave me the beautiful flowers above. Every time I look at them I smile because I remember that evening…kind words said, hugs exchanged, good food and even better company.
Most of all, I think of the laughter—the rowdy, make-your-sides-hurt, get-kicked-out-of-wherever-you-are kind. It’s been a while since I laughed like that and it felt so good just to have FUN.
A new friend of mine, Bonnie from Faith Barista, has learned a thing or two about laughter as well. Like me, she once thought fun was the fluff of life. We’re both discovering how serious and sacred it can actually be.
Bonnie beautifully wrote about that very thing in Laughter Can Be the Best Faith Medicine. I hope you’ll stop by her blog and read her post right now!
As C.S. Lewis said, “Joy is the serious business of heaven.”
