Welcome to the first official week of the You’re Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide book club! The goal of this series is to help you embrace who you are, become all God created you to be and live intentionally. If you’re catching up, you can read all the posts here. And you can still get your copy of the You’re Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide.
This week we’re doing Session One of the LifeGrowth Guide and we’re going to focus on our strengths. This is one of my favorite topics because I believe our strengths are God-given characteristics He wants to use for His purposes. Yet we often overlook or underestimate our strengths because they come so naturally to us.
I also often hear women say, “I’m worried if I say I have strengths then I’m not being humble.” Let’s review this excerpt from the You’re Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide as a reminder of why we don’t have to worry about that…
Most of the time, the word humility is from the Hebrew word kana, which implies submission to another’s will. In the New Testament, it’s a Greek word formed from two others: tapeinos (low to the ground) and phren (our hearts/minds).
Put all of that together, and humility means bowing our hearts to God. Or in other words, submitting to His will. And that means agreeing with what He says and living it out—including what He says about us. Our strengths and skills are more than personal characteristics; they’re messages that tell us who God made us.
Psalm 139:14 also says, “I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way” {NCV}. In other words, recognizing who God made us leads to PRAISE not to pride! With that in mind, take a look at this chart from the You’re Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide and choose at least three strengths that fit you:
Discussion: Share one or more of your strengths in the comments below {subscribers, click here to come to the blog post so you can leave a comment.} You can also share anything else that stood out to you from Session One! If you share this post too and say you did so in your comment then you’ll be entered to win this God’s Heart for You necklace from my collection on DaySpring to remind you of who God says you are! Congratulations to Denise, the winner from last Monday!
I’m so grateful for who God made each of you to be and I’m glad we get to discover more about that together!
XOXO
