Her voice quivers as little as she asks the question, “But how do I know if I’m doing this right?”
She’s talking about a God-sized dream and I nod with understanding. Oh, how I know that feeling. If only there were a formula to follow then it wouldn’t be so scary. But that’s not the way it works.
I pause for a moment and then reply, “If it’s never been done before, then there’s no way to do it wrong.”
Even if someone has done something similar to what you’re considering, you’ve never done it. That dream, idea, book, project, plan has never before been seen in this world. It’s a new thing God is doing. And you are a new creation. God isn’t interested in making copies. And he doesn’t compare you or your dream to anyone else.
So go for it, brave sister, and know that you can’t fail. The worst that can happen is letting fear get the best of you.
Obedience is success.
Courage is creativity in action.
And the only way to fail is not to do it at all.
