Ever wonder if you need to be a little bit different? Yep, I’ve been there too! You’re exactly who you’re created to be as an introvert. And you have strengths our world needs more than ever before!
We happen to live in a time when extroversion is slightly more dominant in our culture. But that hasn’t always been the case throughout history and it’s not even true in every place now. For example, Finland is primarily introverted (and it also keeps getting ranked as the happiest country in the world)!
What if we shift from thinking an extroverted culture means we need to change to thinking it means our culture needs us? I’ve spent the last several years studying introversion and I’ve found we have sought-after strengths, like strategic solitude, meaningful relationships, and true well-being (you can learn more about all nine strengths I discovered in The Powerful Purpose of Introverts).
I love how fellow introvert and author Jenn Granneman says it…
“So you’re quiet and you don’t always know what to say? On the other side of that ‘weakness’ is a powerful, analytical mind. You get overstimulated more easily than others? In your solitude, you solve problems, think of new ideas, and create. You ‘umm’ and ‘ahh’ when you speak? Your reflective mind processes things deeply. Instead of seeing your introvert qualities as your biggest flaws, consider that they may actually be your biggest strengths.”
You’re an introvert for such a time as this, created on purpose, for a purpose. We don’t need you to be someone a little bit different; we only need you to bravely be who you already are.
Cheering you on,
Holley
