Driving to work I wonder as spring trees whiz by…
Why am I here?
How do I fulfill my purpose?
What can I do to make a difference?
These questions feel as weighty as the boulders lining the rocky shelves beside me. I reach up with one hand, rub my shoulders, and glance up at the endless, blue sky.
Lord, why are these questions so heavy?
It seems my heart hears a whisper in response…
Because they are God-sized.
I picture a little girl then, red dress, scuffed shoes, leaning down to lift a rock at the edge of the backyard. Straining, striving, finally sitting down, head on her knees. Daddy silently sees, understands, comes to pick up the burden and his daughter.
She smiles wide, leans into him, remembers…
Being cherished
Receiving grace
Living in love
These are the truths her shoulders, and her heart, were created to carry.
And, as I pull into the parking lot, light as air, it seems I’ve left a million pounds along the road.
Thanks to all of you who left comments on my last post–You can do all things…but you don’t have to do it all. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll read through what everyone shared. I was so encouraged and I think you will be too. I used the random number generator and Crystal is the winner of the bangle bracelet!
