Two women walk with heads low and hearts heavy. They’ve come to the place where their dear friend has been buried. Each footstep brings back another memory of being together and hopes disappointed. How could it have ended this way? They don’t know but love compels them here.
Then the unexpected happens.
An angel stands before them and says the impossible: “I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” Next come the instructions…go and tell the disciples.
The women hurry away, “afraid yet filled with joy.”
That’s what happens when we come face-to-face with what only God can do. Fear and joy collide into this thing we call courage that moves us forward on a path we never dreamed we’d be able to take.
And what else do we find on that path?
“Suddenly Jesus met them.”
When we believe the impossible and obey, we encounter Jesus in a way we never have before.
It’s interesting that an angel told the women first.
It was only after they had started their journey that Jesus himself reaffirmed what they knew in their hearts to be true.
Sometimes we are called to go before we fully see.
And then faith becomes sight.
Courage means being willing to move forward “afraid yet filled with joy” to share what God has asked us to, and to do it now, today.
Without delay.

For Tuesday…Words of truth gave the women courage and the words we speak to each other can do the same. Last week your “do what you can” plan step for your God-sized dream was to write a post entitled “A Letter to the God-sized Dreamers” telling your sisters why who they’re becoming and what they’re doing matters–even when it’s hard. You can link up your post with us or share in the comments tomorrow.
In case you missed the happy news, You’re Made for a God-sized Dream is officially here!
