10 Simple Ways to Give Thanks

A free printable with 10 Simple Ways to Give Thanks

{my graphics are free goodies for you}

The table is set and we’re circling it like sharks. My husband has an eye on a turkey leg. I’ve already got the whipped cream poised over the pie. The mashed potatoes are in imminent danger from a cousin and the dog is imagining what she could do if only she had thumbs.

Then someone pauses and says, “Before we begin, let’s give thanks.” We blush and murmur, look at the ground and shuffle our feet. Five minutes ago we were overflowing with grateful thoughts but now in the spotlight of this moment with distracting smells all around we are drooling hooligans with forks halfway to our mouths.

I have lived this moment it seems a dozen times. And this is what I’ve decided: I need assistance. I can’t be trusted in the presence of the dessert table. So I’ve put together a little list to help me refocus on the true meaning of this day, on what my heart really does want to say to the Giver of all that’s good.

Maybe you, or your crazy Uncle Erwin, are a bit like me too. If so, then this little tool is yours to use, share, print, post or use as a placemat. Have at it.

We give You thanks. {Rev. 11:17}

God, I’m especially grateful for…

  • Person/People I Love:
  • Blessing I’ve Received:
  • Something Small that Brings Me Joy:
  • A Favorite Memory from This Year:
  • Your Provision (Ex: health, house):
  • This Prayer You Answered:
  • Who You Are (Ex: Caring, Strong, Kind):
  • Who I Am Because of You (Ex: Loved, Accepted):
  • One Thing I Have to Look Forward to Next Year:
  • Open – Whatever Is On My Heart Today:

You can fill this out personally, go around the table and do it with your guests or have everyone draw a number from one to ten and then answer the one they pick.

Here’s my little secret to a truly happy Thanksgiving: There is such a thing as too much pie. But never too much gratitude.

XOXO
