I recently wrote this in my journal as a reminder to my heart, I hope it’s helpful for yours too!

God has more ahead for you. You are not finished yet. What you saw as a delay or detour was really preparation for what’s ahead. Sometimes the seasons that feel like brokenness become divine bridges to what’s next.

Nothing is wasted. Nothing is without worth. You have not “lost” time; you have not fallen behind. You don’t need to hurry to catch up. You don’t need to push yourself harder to make up for what you think you missed.

Some seasons still may not make much sense to you. Why did it happen? Did you hear God wrong? But one day it will all become clear. You will see the purpose even in the pain. Like a miner sifting for gold in a pan, you’ll one day hold something in your hands and heart that you could have only gained this way, and be able to say, “Now I understand.”

Sometimes the seasons that feel like brokenness become divine bridges to what’s next.

This doesn’t mean God caused it, but it does mean that He is a relentless Redeemer determined to do you good even through what seems like “bad” in your life. You don’t have to make up for what happened. You don’t have to prove the pain was worth it.

This season was not about what you could get done; it was about who you have become. You are not the same person you were before. You have healed, grown, changed, become stronger. Every time you chose to persevere, each choice you made to move forward, reshaped you from the inside out. It is time now to live in the freedom and hard-earned joy you fought for when it would have been easier to give up.

Don’t look back to the past. Resist the urge to ask, “What if…?”

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV

God is doing a new thing in your life. It is a work built on the foundation of all the healing you’ve done. It would not be possible without what you have walked through so far. No one sees the foundation of a building but without it, the structure could not stand. In the same way, it may feel like you can’t see the good that come out of your last season. But it is there and it is necessary.

Trust that you are not off track. Trust that God’s ways are higher than yours. Trust that nothing can stop the good work God is committed to doing in your life.

Open your heart fully and embrace what is to come. Let go of the past so that your hands can be empty to receive what God has for you in the future. You have been faithful, and a faithful God will not let anything in your life go to waste. He will use it all in ways you can’t yet fully see. Better things are yet to be.
